I have come to realize the less comparing I do, the less culture shock I have. It is the beauty of understanding our differences.

Living

If you are like myself and came to Mexico as an expat, then you will most likely be overwhelmed with finding a place to live, opening a bank account and living day to day. The best advice for an expat is to get a cultural coach before moving to Mexico. A cultural coach is supposed to educate you on Mexican culture and way of living and reduce the stress of a culture shock. An added benefit to a culture coach is they can introduce you to other expats in the state or city that you can connect with.

Before I moved to Mexico, I went through a 2 month cultural training with a coach from Mexico. This training included information on day today living essentials, common behaviors of Mexicans, Mexican culture including festivals thought the year, travel information, politics, history and most importantly I got connected to a 50+ member expat group in the state of Nuevo Leon with people from all over the world.

Following are some of the commonly used platforms to get cultural and language training before moving to Mexico.
